SURAKARTA — In response to dynamic global cultural transformations and the evolving research needs of doctoral candidates, the Doctoral Program (S-3) in Cultural Studies FIB UNS officially disseminated its 2025 Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum Framework with a total academic workload of 62 credits (SKS).
The updated curriculum introduces two distinct and flexible doctoral study tracks designed to cater to diverse scholarly backgrounds:
- Coursework Track (By Course): Designed for master’s graduates from diverse multidisciplinary fields. It combines intensive structured coursework on critical theories, cultural philosophy, and qualitative methodologies in Semester 1 (16 credits), followed by qualification examinations and independent dissertation research.
- Research Track (By Research): Tailored specifically for cultural studies graduates who possess verified track records of scholarly publications. This track allows candidates to directly immerse themselves into dissertation fieldwork, international symposia, and Scopus publication milestones.
The curriculum officially took effect for incoming doctoral cohorts starting August 1, 2025.
